The opportunity to put into place proper services now exist so that we can all live in a country that makes us proud to be Irish and if we, at any point in our lives become the vulnerable, we at least have the peace of mind to know that we will get the loving care of a caring state.

PLEASE MINISTER, Save our Profession
Student Xpress is an idea developed by a number of secondary school teachers who wished to develop a medium for young people to express their views on a wide range of subjects. These teachers express their point of view about the teachers dispute.

1. Student Views on the Dispute
Theresa Flanagan and Oisin Horgan express their views on the dispute and how it is affecting exam students.

2. Who Really Cares?
Peter Prendergast is a secondary school teacher who believes the media are writing the wrong story in this dispute.

3. Who will teach me?
The number of Science graduates opting for teaching as a career has seriously diminished in recent times. This will have serious repercussions for our economy in the future.

4. 'We will not abandon the children' - Ahern
Two recent cases of state neglect of our vulnerable are highlighted: the education of autistic children and the care of elderly patients in nursing homes.

5. Come and Play with me
While this dispute remains unresolved the taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, continues his obsession with a new sports stadium.

6. Schools are Communities
School plays, orchestras, football teams are all products of the dedication of these teachers over the years. Teachers are proud of their contribution to the school community and are honoured to be involved in what must be one of the most satisfying professions open to anyone.
