Considered by most scientists to be the origin of mankind, Africa is a continent of 53 independent countries and a rich mix of native peoples, cultures, economies and history. Almost completely encircled by water, it's home to vast deserts, tropical rain forests, rugged mountains and fertile grasslands. Its National Parks and wildlife preserves, as well as incredible natural beauty attracts an ever-increasing level of tourists from around the globe.

Ethiopia

Located in the northeast corner of Africa, Ethiopia's history spans 3,000 years. The capital city is Addis Ababa, the currency is the Ethiopian Birr and the official language is Amharic. The population exceeds 60 million people.

The climate is moderate, with desert conditions in the northeast and southeast. Drought is commonplace. In addition to the lowlands, the terrain is a mixture of rugged mountains throughout its central plateau. Still very dependent on foreign aid, the country does export coffee, and assorted minerals, including gold, copper and platinum.

Ethiopia is currently involved in a border war with Eritrea while at the same time facing a famine that could kill thousands of its people.

Zimbabwe

Located in far southeastern Africa, Zimbabwe is home to the sensational natural wonder of Victoria Falls, as well as vast, and extensive big game parks and other natural beauty. Population exceeds 11 million. The capital city is Harare, the currency is the Zimbabwe Dollar and the official language is English.

Year round climate is mostly moderate with low humidity. The terrain features a midland plateau. The country is known for its fiscal responsibility, and tourism is part of a strong and varied economic base.

Zimbabwe is currently involved in a land war with squatters seizing white-owned farms.
