Mobiles in moderation!

Anna Kealey
Loreto High School Beaufort

How many of you have ever wandered down an isle in Tesco's to hear someone roaring down their mobile phone naming the different cereal types? Why people cannot just write a shopping list is beyond me. It would save a great deal of time and would save people from having to go though the torture of hearing you shout, "No, they don't have Coco Pops! Would you like me to get Corn Flakes?"

As I'm sure you all know, the world has been taken over by a plague of mobile phones. I've lost count of the amount of times someone's phone has gone off during a movie in the cinema. Are they really that necessary?

Mobile phones can be extremely useful. They help your friends and parents know where you are. Whether that's a good or a bad thing I don't know. But what it so pointless is the number of times people use it for useless calls that aren't really necessary and cost an obscene amount of money. Even text messages which, as everyone says, "are only 10p each" can add up to a huge bill, and for what? Do we really need to send messages such as "Hi. How r u? What u up 2? wb"?

So, in short, mobile phones can be a really great thing and extremely helpful, just use them in moderation!
