Julie Burns
Christ King Girls SS, Cork.
Can I once more be at easeful rest?
Rocking tentatively on the gate,
I know not which direction to look;
The window, as a voyeur, to that which once was
A vigil of the happy games that no longer are.
The wood splinters, I had thought a vortex would swallow me
But growth came unapprehensively and I lie amoung the shattered remains-
my stepping stone sinks
Nightmares are not bred from moving images-
That right is reserved for life.
Staring obliviously towards alien worlds
That innocent laughter rouses me from the
musings of
maybe a not so idle mind
While staring towards an uncertain fate, I realise.....
The mirth is on the other path, not barriered behind the glass.
