7. Supervolcanoes

More recently scientists have discovered the possibility that there are 'supervolcanoes', these are immense chambers of magma that lie below the crust. None have erupted in recorded history but, 74,000 years ago in Sumatra (Indonesia) a volcano called Toba erupted that is estimated to have been 10,000 times larger than the Mount St. Helen's eruption. One area that scientists' fear could produce a similar eruption lies below Yellowstone Park in the US. If this were to erupt it would certainly have a dramatic effect on the world's weather for decades.
