ReadingComprehension EcriteAt Higher Level, Reading, Section 1 is worth 120 marks, which amount to 30% of the total marks of the entire examination. The reading passages are worth more marks than any other section of the exam. In spite of this, Comprehension Ecrite is the one area which is most frequently overlooked both by students and by teachers. It is the least well prepared, and less class time is allocated to reading than to any of the other skills. Four questions appear in this section. You must answer three of them. Question 1 is compulsory. You must answer it! Then choose any two others from Question 2, Question 3 and Question 4. AuralEcoutez: How to Approach the Aural ExamAt Higher Level, the Listening Comprehension Test is worth 80 marks, which amount to 20% of the total marks of the entire examination. This, then, is the section that is worth the least marks! Yet 20% is a sizeable chunk of the marks when one considers that only one skill is being tested. OralEpreuve OraleThe oral exam is always marked out of 100 marks. Adjustments are made later for ordinary level candidates, who will eventually be marked out of 80 marks. It is thus worth 25% of the entire marks at higher level, and 20% of the entire marks at ordinary level. The average oral is fifteen minutes in length. |
